"Diet drinks promote weight loss" - new research promotes
Just a few years the diet pop habit exploded and it seemed artificial sweeteners were the way to go because it avoided the extremely toxic effect of sugar on the body. Then studies suggested that feeding these chemical to the body was not only toxic, but also promoted weight gain filled everyone's minds.
The battle between regular and diet is now renewed with new research coming out showing that drinking that bottle of Pepsi in the place of water may help to shed a few extra pounds.
300 men and women drank 24 fluid ounces of either water or diet pop for 12 weeks. The pop drinkers lost approximately 13 pounds and the water drinkers only 9 pounds*.
But before going to pick up that quenching drink, keep in mind that researchers are not sure what exactly leads to this result. One possible error to the environment may be that the subject restricting their diet to only water is compensating their temptation for soft drinks with high calorie-foods. Also note that this research was published in the Obesity magazine and was funded by the American Beverage Association.
